Afiqah Zahra Salihin at WSCC 2017

The World Schools Chess Championship (WSCC) 2017 is coming to its end today, 30/4/2017. The championship which has begun on 22nd April 2017, has attracted hundreds of young chess players from 41 countries. There are six age-group categories - U7, U9, U11, U13, U15 and U17 in the championship for each Open and Girls sections.

Malaysia is represented by sixteen young chess players taking part in several age-group categories. The one player whom has the most attention is 7-year-old Afiqah Zahra Salihin

The plight of Afiqah Zahra to play in the WSCC 2017 has become viral in the net. Harian Metro has published an article here.

Entering the final 9th round, Afiqah has scored 5.5/8 points from four wins and three draws. Afiqah is currently placed third from the total of 28 participants in the Girls Under 7 age-group category.
