The MSSM Chess Championship 2017 is going to end today. It has started several days ago. Officially, the championship is from 4th until 11th August 2017.
GiLoCatur has followed closely the MSSM Chess Championship since 2009 when GiLoCatur's daughter, Anis Fariha, made her debut appearance representing MSS Selangor.
2017 Edition is hosted by Pahang and is held in Kuantan. GiLoCatur believes that the championship has changed in the quality of games and players. The dominance of Selangor, Pulau Pinang and WP Kuala Lumpur has been challenged by other states.
Unofficially, MSSWP Putrajaya has won its maiden Gold in L12 (Under 12 Boys) Individual event.

Entering the final 6th Round, Mukhriez Shah of MSSWP Putrajaya has led the Ranking by half point. A win will ensure Mukhriez to become the champion for L12 Individual Champion.

GiLoCatur would like to congratulate Mukhriez and his daddy, Mr Mahmood Shah for this Golden feat, the L12 Individual Champion.
Another interesting results is in the L12 Team event. In this edition, the host state Pahang has the chance to become the champion in this category.

Pahang has joined both Selangor and Pulau Pinang in the Top 3 after Round 5. With three (3) wins and two (2) draws, Pahang has the same 8 points with Selangor. They also have the same Tie Break 2 which is the game points.

In the final round, Pahang plays white against Selangor. Board 1 and Board 3 players of the MSS Pahang L12 Team has impressive results with all five (5) wins.
There are two pupils of Sekolah Kebangsaan Chat in the the L12 MSS Pahang Team. GiLoCatur is not sure whether these two are the two impressive Board 1 and Board 3 players.

GiLoCatur's prediction on the match up results for the Pahang - Selangor match up is 1.5 - 2.5. If the results become otherwise, Pahang will clinch the Gold medal for this event.
