The people behind the success! - Paul Truong
GiLoCatur came across to a salutation to chess parents in Paul Truong's facebook as per below. GiLoCatur agrees strongly with him. It is true to GiLoCatur and wife. It is also true to all the Malaysian chess parents.

Thus, GiLoCatur hopes and prays that the chess playing children especially GiLoCatur's children - Fikri, Anis Fariha and Fahim Al-Faqeh, not to forget their parents especially when they are successful.
"The people behind the success!
When the fans see young phenoms in chess, they are in awe of their talents. What they do not realize is success does not come without an incredible amount of sacrifices by their families, especially their parents.
I can name quite a few examples, first with Susan, then her sisters some years later. Their parents gave up everything to help the girls. Same with Vishy Anand, Garry Kasparov, Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, Fabiano Caruana, Hou Yifan, Wesley So, Ray Robson, Le Quang Liem, Illia Nyzhnyk, and now with some of the younger ones like Jeffery Xiong, Sam Sevian, Kayden Troff, and many more.
I never saw these players (at a younger age) without one of their parents accompanying them to event after event and paying for everything from coaching lessons to travelling & tournament expenses, etc. Yet these parents would never ask for anything in return. They offer their children unconditional love and support.
It is great to see someone like Illia Nyzhnyk sending most of his chess winnings in the US since he attended Webster University back home so his parents can buy an apartment in a better & safer location. It is also sad to see some youngsters not appreciating what their parents have done for them.
To all the super parents, I salute you!" - Paul Truong in facebook

the tournament banner |
The 2015 Asian Amateur Chess Championship is entering its final round today. It is being held in Brunei. About sixty participants from 11 countries are taking part in the tournament. Thirteen among them are Malaysians.
Top 20 Ranking after Round 8, full list - here |
Who is leading after Round 8 had completed? An Uzbekistani player named Daler Vakhidov is the leader having accumulated 6.5/8 points. Four six pointers are trailing half point. Mohd Saprin Sabri of Malaysia is one of them.
Top 20 Round 9 pairings |
The leader, Daler Vakhidov, is having the edge to become the champion. A win will guarantee him the championship title. A lost will give the chance to others especially the six pointers. A draw will ensure the top seed player to miss the championship crown. GiLoCatur strongly believes that the champion will come from the Top 3 boards. And GiLoCatur is hoping that the best Malaysian so far, Saprin, to win his final game in the tournament and emerge champion.
Saprin has not lost a single game so far. He won four and drew four. Thus, he collects 6/8 points. His opponent in the last round is also a Malaysian who is the fifth seed.
Wanna know a little bit about Mohd Saprin?

All the Best SAPRIN as well as to all the Malaysian chess players!
