Fikri Versus Shukor, Then ... 5 Years Ago (2008) and Now (2013)

GiLoCatur just realized that GiLoCatur have known Abdul Shukor Arajah since 5 years ago. Below picture is the recorded evidence. Unfortunately, GiLoCatur does not know much about him except he is from Sabah and a good chess player. Even though sees him many times in the local chess tournaments, GiLoCatur never asks about his personal life and info.

On 2009 New Year's Eve, Fikri who was 12 years old then played black against Shukor. The result was 0 - 1.

On 2014 New Year's Eve, once more Fikri played black against Shukor in the fourth round. The result? Still 0 - 1.

Fikri needs to improve further his chess skills and knowledge and practice more and more in order to beat Shukor in chess. Will they meet again? Maybe. Just the mighty Allah knows.

4th NJCC Blitz Masters

At 2.30pm after the Friday prayer, a chess Blitz event was held at the DATCC. Thirty two (32) players took part where many of them are Under 12 players including Fahim Al-Faqeh, GiLoCatur's youngest son. This is the first blitz tournament for him.

GiLoCatur did not have the final ranking because left the venue early as soon as the competition was over. GiLoCatur hopes more and more blitz tournaments to be held in Malaysia next year. It would be better if such events held next year as well as the Rapid tournaments to be submitted to FIDE for Elo ratings.

17ChessClub Blitz Tourney

After the 17ChessClub Rapid Open last weekend, there was another tournament. It is a blitz of 5-minute-per-player tourney. Fourteen local chess players took part in the event. GiLoCatur and Fahim did not take part but watched the first few rounds. This type of chess event or tournament should be organized more often and more and more Malaysian chess juniors should be encouraged to participate as the blitz has many benefits for them.

Do you want to know who participated in the blitz event? Check them out in below photos. Saprin aka Nf6 who GiLoCatur believes is one of Malaysian blitz masters did not take part in the blitz tourney even though he played in the rapid tournament earlier.
