MSSM Chess Championship Is Around The Corner!

MSSM Chess Championship for 2012 edition will kick off in two days. This year it will be held in Kuala Terengganu (KT). GiLoCatur believes most state contingents will start their journey to KT tomorrow morning including Selangor and Wilayah Persekutuan.

For this year edition, it is going to be different a bit for GiLoCatur. The reason is Fikri will not be playing for Selangor anymore. Instead, he will represent Wilayah Persekutuan (WP). Anis is still in the Selangor contingent. She is still in P15 (Under 15 Girls) category. Meanwhile, her elder brother Fikri will be playing in L18 (Under 18 Boys) category. Unfortunately, their younger brother Fahim could not make it.

Pity to both Fikri and Anis. Their two-week school holiday is fully occupied. The first week has gone for their respective centralized training. Then, during the second week they will be in Terengganu fighting over chess boards. That is their sacrifice for choosing chess and being active in it.

Who will emerge as the champions for each category? Which team will be on the podium receiving the medals especially the gold? Which state will win the most gold medals? Can WP edge both Pulau Pinang and Selangor on medal tally? Can other state break the domination of Selangor, Wilayah Persekutuan and Pulau Pinang? Can Selangor defend the overall champion? Lots of questions hah! Let's wait and see.

Will GiLoCatur be at the Terengganu Indoor Stadium, the venue of the championship? Will GiLoCatur cover the event? InsyaAllah, GiLoCatur will be at the tournament venue on the second last day. GiLoCatur is thinking the challenge to reach Kuala Terengganu. At last minute, GiLoCatur chooses to go by car instead of by flight as planned earlier. It is a nightmare for a long car drive now. It will be a tiring lot to drive six to seven hours when you are in mid 40's. Furthermore, GiLoCatur and family will have flight overseas not so long after the championship.

Good Luck to all the players who participate in this year MSSM Chess Competition. See you in Terengganu, InsyaAllah.
